Dovecote Advocacy Networking Society (DANS)
is a non-profit society, part of a network of 150 microboards in B.C. whose goal it is to help individual persons
with disabilities to achieve a better quality of life.

The Board of Directors includes a president, vice president, secretary,
treasurer, and two members at large.

is Louise.
The purpose of this society is to support,
brainstorm with, advocate for, and fundraise on behalf of Louise, in order to help her find a healthy home, health care, equipment,
and whatever will open a door of well-being for her.

First Term 2002 to 2003:
- Aug. 2002 Light Box repairs in time for winter.
- Sept.2002 Incorporation of the Society.
- Oct. 2002 Advocacy letter for Disability Status Review.
- Nov. 2002 Fax Machine for photocopying/faxing.
- Dec. 2002 E-mail Announcement
Letter of the Society and Website.
- Jan. 2003 $100 towards emergency dental bill. Advocacy
letter rewritten--requesting exemption from Disability Review.
- April 2003 Letter requesting a discount from food store.
Louise receives 5% discount.
Second Term 2003 to 2004:
- July 2003 Annual General Meeting via conference
call.
- Aug. 2003 Summer e-Newslettter: 30th Anniversary of Survival
- Sept.2003 Email Postcard to raise funds for equipment.
- Oct. 2003 Contact with Sears about possibility of dishwasher (maybe a discount,
but the Board is waiting to see what Louise needs when she moves)
- Nov. 2003 One page of info about Dovecote and Louise to Aquinas Theo. Institute
- Dec.2003 Letter to BC Housing asking for Private Rent Subsidy. Christmas

- March 2004 Phone calls to BC Housing (Louise has been approved for an Individual
Rent Supplement and is looking for a townhouse to rent.)
Third Term 2004 to 2005:
- July 2004 Second
Annual General Meeting via email.Letter to ND asking him to request 10 more consults covered by Human Resources so Louise can continue to
get intravenous treatments. New
logo designed and starting to be used on letterhead.
- August 2004 Letter to CRHC requesting removal of allergenic plant
and change in maintenance concerning the air quality in Louise's suite.
- September 2004 Letter to BC Housing to negotiate for a higher rent
supplement.
- October 2004 Email negotiating with CRHC about changing charcoal
air filters more often. Email and snail mail letters and cards to friends of Louise to thank them for prayers and support,
as well as inform them about the need for a higher rent supplement.
